Microfiber is a ultra fine synthetic fiber whose diameter is only one-tenth as thick as a human hair. Due to its very unique chemical and physical   properties, it is very difficult to be dyed, particularly when it’s blended with polyester and polyamide.
 
Factory usually use disperse dye to treat polyester &polyamide composite microfiber as it has affinity with both fibers. But the polyamide part treated with disperse dye has rather poor color fastness as floating colors will form on its surface which will drop when washed with water and soap. When it is dark color to be dyed, the color dropping or fading situation will be ever more severe. Therefore, we in general do not recommend dark colors particularly dark color for polyester and polyamide composite fabric.
 
But if customers insist, here are few suggestions worthwhile to be kept in mind.
 
1. Choose 100% polyester.Compared with polyester& polyamide composite, 100%polyester microfiber is much satisfactory when it comes to dark color fastness.
 
2. Add backing paper. Dark color will fade inevitably and stain other fabrics due to the friction that result when fabric rub against each other during transportation. And backing paper can help prevent the dark come into direct contact with light ones. And nonetheless, pack dark and light-colored fabric separately such as using independent plastic bags is always the best choice available.
 
3. Wash separately. Dye has a tendency to run during the washing cycle so always remind your customer of washing according to color while designing your washing instructions.
 
4. Use lower washing temperature.High water encourages dye to loosen from the fibers so we highly suggest a washing temperature between 30 and 40 degrees to be shown on the washing label and no warmer.
 
Apart from above-mentioned fixes, good color fastness can always be achieved through improving the dyeing technique and by selecting proper dyes and assistants. For example, the best choice of fixing agent and detergent could help achieve a washing fastness around level 3-4. But all these are associated with extra costs which must be covered by higher prices.
